Mungwa Talks 'Cuse

Shutang Mungwa is currently committed to Stanford, however he visited Syracuse again this weekend and if he does not make it through admissions with them, the Orange could find themselves in a great position to land the hard-hitting safety from New Jersey.

Shutang Mungwa, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound safety from Bergen Catholic High School in Oradell, N.J., took a trip to Syracuse this weekend and it wasn't just for the experience.

"I went up to Syracuse to get another look at them because I haven't been accepted into Stanford yet, so if something doesn't go right with them, Syracuse is my next choice," Mungwa stated. "I went up on Friday and just got back on Sunday afternoon."

"I got to sit in on some meetings with the defensive backs and then on Saturday I got to go through the academic side of things with a professor," Mungwa explained. "We were in the Arts and Sciences Department and had a presentation there which was great. After that I headed over to watch the basketball game which was just terrible for Fordham. It was 100-36 and I've never seen a game that bad. They didn't even score double-digits in the first half man…it was crazy."

"Coach (Scott) Shafer and Coach (Doug) Marrone spoke with me about the defensive schemes and where they'd put me if I went there and then they also got into what Syracuse offered," Mungwa said. "It was a pretty good trip. Even when I made my commitment to Stanford I had the same good feelings about Syracuse, so it just reinforced those. I'm definitely still committed to Stanford, but if that falls through Syracuse is my next number one."

Mungwa sent his application a week ago to Stanford and is hoping to hear back within the next week if he'll be going to Palo Alto.
