Could Baxter Flip?

The Florida flavor continues with Coach Doug Marrone and his staff and while Homestead native Keith Baxter is currently committed to Marshall, he took an official visit to Syracuse this weekend and was very impressed.

Keith Baxter is definitely a name for Syracuse fans to keep an eye on right now. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound cornerback from Homestead High School is currently committed to Marshall, however it sounds like he could end up flipping and that could mean that the Orange benefit from the Herd's loss.

"It was a great visit and right now everything is kind of up in the air for me, so I really can't comment on what I'm doing with Marshall," Baxter said. "I really enjoyed the time I spent with the players and coaches and the vibe I got from the team and the city. They really stress football, have a great history with Ernie Davis and Jim Brown and it's just a football town."

"I got to go through the whole campus and learn about the history of Syracuse and it made me feel that it was definitely somewhere that I needed to consider going to school," Baxter added. "When I looked at the opportunity to play early, the quality of coaching and the ability they have to get you to the next level that all appealed to me."

"Phillip Thomas is from my area and was my host and I really enjoy hanging out with him. He's a great player and a great person and we had a lot of fun together."

We asked Baxter what the coaches had to say about where he'd play at Syracuse and what he thinks he does well.

"The coaches like me at cornerback," Baxter explained. "I'm very physical on the line with receivers and they play a lot of zero coverage and press coverage up there and that's something I specialize in, so I just feel like I would fit the defense really well."

Homestead finished the season 5-4 this season.
