Tradition Impresses McReynolds

Three-star defensive tackle Kevin McReynolds would be a huge addition to the Class of 2012 for Syracuse University and is the type of national recruit that Head Coach Doug Marrone and his staff need to bring in. We spoke to him tonight about his thoughts on the program.

St. John's College High School defensive tackle Kevin McReynolds plays things closer to the chest than any recruit I've ever come across in recruiting over five years, but the 6-foot-3, 280-pound lineman is very loquacious and gave us some very honest thoughts about Syracuse as a staff and a football program.

"I've been in contact with Coach (Jimmy) Brumbaugh and he's coming down here this week on Tuesday," McReynolds said. "He's been recruiting me along with Coach (Doug) Marrone and Coach (Rob) Moore and I have a tremendous relationship with them. They're all great people and very easy to talk to."

"Things that stand out to me about Syracuse is there tradition which is a huge factor to me," McReynolds added. "That's a great place to be with everything that's going on in terms of the rebuilding that they're doing up there. I've been impressed with the progress they've made since Coach Marrone has been there and I'm also really close with Antwon Bailey and he fills me in on everything that happens up there."

"Antwon has always kept it real and was always a leader at the program I'm currently at, so he's definitely someone I listen to in the process," McReynolds stated. "As far as recruiting in general, he's just told me to stay true to myself and find a place I fit in and find somewhere I'm completely comfortable with."

McReynolds doesn't currently have any plans to go back up to Syracuse before his decision comes at this point and still plans to decide on National Signing Day.
