Syracuse Offers Jones

Coach Doug Marrone made it a point to travel to Aquinas Institute in person with Coach Tyrone Wheatley on Friday afternoon to let defensive lineman Jarron Jones know that he has a home at Syracuse University if he wants it.

Jarron Jones, a 6-foot-6, 305-pound defensive tackle from Rochester, N.Y., has another offer under his belt now from Syracuse and while he was pretty sick, he did talk to us a bit about the in-state verbal.

"Syracuse offered me on Friday afternoon," Jones stated. "They came into my school and offered me. Coach (Tyrone) Wheatley and Coach (Doug) Marrone were both in and just talked to me about the recruiting process a lot and how it was up to me to find out which school was for me."

"I felt pretty good about getting my Syracuse offer," Jones added. "It's kind of nice to get an offer from somewhere close to home. They did offer me as a defensive lineman too, so that is the side of the ball that I like to play on."

Jones was feeling pretty under the weather when we spoke to him and we interviewed him earlier in the week about Syracuse, so we kept the interview short. It goes without saying that it's great to hear that the Orange have offered one of New York's finest 2012 recruits.
