Pro-Style Fits Schwaba

Pittsburgh, Pa., native Jack Schwaba received an offer from Syracuse University earlier this month and while he's being recruited on both sides of the ball by other schools, the Orange definitely want him as a tight end.

Jack Schwaba, a 6-foot-5, 235-pound tight end from Upper Saint Clair High School spoke to us on Sunday night about getting his offer from ‘Cuse and when he'll visit the school for the first time.

"I had received six handwritten letters in the mail in a row from Syracuse before they offered and then I got the offer," Schwaba said. "My head coach told me about the offer and the following day I talked to Coach Adkins from Syracuse. When I spoke to Coach Adkins he said they really liked my film and that he thought I was a perfect tight end for their offense. They thought I'd have a chance at early playing time which is a plus and we just had a really good talk."

"I know they're mainly a pro-style offense and while I don't have a preference, I know I'd fit in well because we run something like that in high school," Schwaba added. "I block very well and also have really good hands, so I think I'd fit in really well."

"Syracuse is a fairly new school to me, but I know it's a private school and offers a very good education. I know they play in the Carrier Dome which is a great facility and realize I got a great offer here, but I still need to learn a lot more."

Schwaba plans to learn more about Syracuse when he does visit this spring.

"I'll definitely be up for a practice or their spring game."

As a junior, Schwaba caught five passes for 60 yards and two touchdowns in an extremely run-heavy offense for the Panthers.
