Lane Waits on SU

The Orange offered Elston Lane some time ago and he's still waiting to talk to the coaching staff at this point as he's narrowing down his schools to find a leader right now. While he is tapering the field however, he says it certainly isn't too late for Syracuse to get into the picture.

Elston Lane still needs to talk to the Syracuse staff, however he has heard a lot about the program from a former player and also has his parents in his ear about the quality of the education he'd receive at the school.

"I haven't talked to the coaches at Syracuse," Lane said. "The last time I heard from them was when they told my coach I had an offer, but I haven't ever spoken to anyone from there personally. My coach said that they're going to come down in the spring and see me."

"One of the people from where I live went up there and played wide receiver and he said the fans are great and you'll get a lot of love at the school, so that was definitely positive to hear," Lane stated. "I have always known it's a great academic school and that's the first thing my parents said when my heard Syracuse offered me. My parents really want me at a very strong academic school, so they were really happy when Syracuse offered. Everything I've heard about the school has been really good."

"I like West Virginia, Wake Forest and SMU a lot and Miami is recruiting me really hard and might offer soon, so they're sticking out to me the most right now."

We asked Lane if Syracuse could get into the mix and how they would need to do it.

"If I know that I'm going to be up there set in terms of being comfortable in campus life and having a good education, that's all I need to know," Lane explained. "I also really need to be able to play as a freshman. Them being late doesn't hurt them right now as there is a lot of time between now and signing day. I'd like to be leaning toward a school by June, but that doesn't mean I'll be making a decision then."

As a junior, Lane caught 23 passes for 437 yards and eight touchdowns.
