Mooney Will Visit 'Cuse

Chester Springs, Pa., native Michael Mooney got a call from Greg Adkins and Doug Marrone on Thursday night who informed him that they wanted to add him to their 2012 recruiting class and he contacted to talk to us about his interest level in the Orange.

Malvern Preparatory School offensive guard Michael Mooney is a hard-nosed player who is starting to pick up FBS offers and he added to that growing list on Thursday when Syracuse stepped into the picture.

"I got an offer from Syracuse today," Mooney said. "Coach Adkins gave me a call tonight and put me on the phone with Coach Doug Marrone and that's when they gave me the offer. I'm very excited about it because it's a great school academically and they have a very good football program. The quarterback there is from Malvern Prep (Ryan Nassib) and his younger brother is actually on our team this year. I also really like the Big East."

"They didn't say what they were offering at, but I know it's on the offensive line," Mooney added. "I know they have a great business school which is what I want to study, so I'm very intrigued by that. At this point that's all I really know, so I'm going up in June for a visit which I'm really looking forward to."

"I saw some of their bowl game this year and enjoyed watching them. I don't really remember any details to be honest, I just liked their overall style of play to be honest with you."

As a junior, Mooney was named first-team All-Inter-Ac on the offensive line. He was also first-team All-Main Line and All-City.
