Wants to Visit Syracuse

Baltimore, Md., athlete Kenneth Goins has been offered by Syracuse and while he's not sure where the Orange would want him to suit up, he doesn't really care at this point. His main focus is getting on campus as soon as possible and learning more about a school he's very interested in.

Kenneth Goins, a 5-foot-10, 210-pound athlete from Gilman School looks like he'll most likely be recruited as an outside linebacker by the Orange, but right now three positions are being thrown at him as possibilities.

"Syracuse told me they like me at either running back, outside linebacker or safety," Goins said. "They told me Coach Tyrone Wheatley was going over my film this week to evaluate me as a running back, so we'll see what come back with for me. I did call them over the weekend, but they didn't answer, so I'll call them back tonight and tomorrow until I get hold of them."

"Coach (Rob) Moore is recruiting me and that's who gave me my offer and I've spoken to some other of the members of the staff as well," Goins added. "When I called Coach Moore that was the first time I got to talk to him and I really liked him. He came off as a good coach and he's very interested in me. I'm also very interested in Syracuse and really want to get up and visit Syracuse this summer."

We asked Goins what he likes about Syracuse early.

"I don't know much about them, but I saw them play West Virginia last season in person and they looked good," Goins explained. "I liked their style of play on the field. Coach Moore said that they have very strong schools for the majors I'm considering, but I need to learn about them academically. Like I said, I'm pretty new to the school and don't know much about them at this point."

Goins plays defensive end and running back for Gilman School, who went 7-2 last season and we asked him which side of the ball he prefers to play on.

"It really doesn't matter to me. I guess it comes down to whatever helps the team the most and to be honest, however I could get on the field the fastest as well."

Goins currently has offers from Connecticut, Georgia Tech, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, Syracuse, Tulane and West Virginia.
