Wes Brown Talks SU

Wes Brown is a highly coveted running back from Olney, Md., who currently holds around 45 scholarship offers and is the type of player that could be a huge building block for Syracuse on offense. We spoke with him on Tuesday night as he's showing interest in SU and found that the staff was giving him plenty of love at camp this past weekend.

Wes Brown, a 6-foot, 195-pound tailback from Our Lady of Good Counsel is the nation's 6th ranked player at his position and has definite interest in Syracuse. He was recently at camp with the Orange and while he hasn't been on their actual campus yet, we talked to him about what he likes so far about the program.

"We went out to SUNY-Maritime for the one-day camp and I participated in the camp," Brown said. "I talked to Coach (Tyrone) Wheatley and Coach Nathaniel (Hackett) and they were really comical. They just joked around about a lot of stuff and said how much they enjoyed the school. Both of them thought I would be a great downhill rusher in their offense and said I could also stay in the game during passing downs by kicking out in the slot as a receiver."

"They really talked to me throughout the entire camp," Brown added. "Most of the plays we were running were their plays and they were asking me if I liked the plays they were running. I felt good about the plays they were running and then at some times they even had me out at wideout so I got more reps. They definitely made me feel like I was really important to them while I was up there."

SyracuseFan.com inquired with Brown what he knows about Syracuse at this point.

"The one thing I really know about Syracuse is Jim Brown," Brown explained. "I watched The Express and liked it because it kind of reminded of me because Ernie Davis came from a struggle and then got into football and took things to another level."

One of the biggest questions on everyone's minds is when and if Brown will visit the actual campus…

"We were actually talking today about where I would visit and what would be good for me and Syracuse definitely came up a couple of times. If there's a great school to go to I'm going to wherever I need to, but I prefer a warmer climate."

As to who he'll be keeping in touch with, Brown said he'll "keep talking with Coach Wheatley and Coach Hackett going forward."

Brown has not set a timetable for his decision and says he will come out with a Top 10 as soon as the end of July.
