Orange Snag Emerich

Blue Mountain High School offensive lineman Jason Emerich is a versatile and talented player who has seen his stock start to rise lately in recruiting and now Syracuse has him as a member of their 2012 recruiting class as he committed earlier today.

Jason Emerich, a 6-foot-4, 275-pound offensive tackle from Schuylkill Haven, Pa., is the latest addition to the Orange recruiting class that is starting to fill up quickly.

"I just committed to Syracuse a little while ago," Emerich said. "I went up today and sat with the coaches and told Coach (Doug) Marrone that I wanted to be at Syracuse. He was really excited, as was the rest of the staff. I was really excited to make my decision too."

He talked about why Syracuse was his school of choice over his other offers.

"I had a great relationship with the players and coaches and that program is just going in a great direction right now," Emerich said. "When I look at what Coach Marrone is doing with the program in terms of putting it back to tradition values and work ethic I see us becoming a great power in the Big East over the next few years. In talking to my future teammates I just got the feeling that they're together and that it's a family up there. Everyone was backing me up there."

"I don't know where I'll play on the line, but wherever they think is best and it doesn't matter to me," Emerich explained. "I really liked Syracuse the entire time, so this last visit was really just to seal the deal and establish the relationships to go forward as a commitment."

As a junior, Emerich was named first-team All-State Class AAA on the offensive line.
