Wayne Williams to Syracuse

Scout.com has learned that reports of junior college defensive tackle Wayne Williams committing to Syracuse are true.

JCFootball.com's Scott Eklund reported earlier:

"JCFootball.com has been able to confirm that ASA DT Wayne Williams has committed to Syracuse.

Williams accounted for 10 tackles, 3.5 tackles-for-loss and 2.5 sacks as a freshman at ASA last fall.

He is on pace to graduate next summer (June of 2013) and will have three years to play two following the 2012 football season."

Williams' pledge gives SU a pair of 2013 verbal commitments (Tyler Provo), as we continue to await word on possible transfer WR Quinta Funderburk. Either way, the Orange's staff has been on a roll over the last few days.

Under Doug Marrone, Syracuse has not been afraid to go the JUCO route in terms of bringing in talent. Senior Deon Goggins hails from those ranks in California, as do 2012 signees Markus Pierce-Brewster and Zian Jones.
