Whitehead Talks Top Three

Isaiah Whitehead is rated as the 6th best shooting-guard in the 2014 class. His stock has been rising after each event he plays in. His ability to score and break down opposing defenses will translate very well into the college game. Recently, the 4-star prospect took a visit to UCLA and discussed his top three soon after.

Few players in the 2014 class have the athleticism and scoring ability of 4-star shooting-guard Isaiah Whitehead. Those skills are what set him apart and make him attractive to college coaches.

Recently, Whitehead took a visit to UCLA. The 6-foot-4 guard recapped the trip and named his current top three.

"I visited Wednesday morning and it went great," Whitehead described. "I loved the campus and the coaches seemed cool. They're building a new gym and I got to watch a practice. I like their style of play.

"The new gym looks like it should be a really amazing gym."

Whitehead continued, "They play an up and down style of play, but it never gets out of control. It's like a balanced style."

While Whitehead wasn't able to hang out with any current players, he did see a few. One, he's been in contact with prior to the visit.

"I saw Kyle (Anderson) and Shabazz (Muhammad) but we didn't really hang out," explained the Brooklyn (N.Y.) Lincoln standout. "But I have spoken to Kyle and he said it's great out there."

Whitehead said he had coaches showing him around the campus and he was impressed. He said he enjoyed the weather, and there are lots of people around, which he liked. His primary recruiter at UCLA is Coach Korey McCray, and says he has a "regular" relationship with him. The visit left a positive impression in Whitehead, who left with the Bruins in his top three.

The rising junior said Syracuse is still his favorite, with Kentucky at No. 2 and UCLA third. Whitehead is still going through the process, however, and says a decision is not imminent.

A visit to Syracuse is scheduled for August 29th, and he will be visiting Kentucky in early September. No date has been officially scheduled for his trip to Lexington.
