Syracuse's Midnight Madness Primer

Syracuse's Midnight Madness has become a big event in Central New York. Recording hip-hop artists perform, a former Syracuse star is hosting, and recruiting targets will be on hand. As the Orange look forward to the October 12th event, CuseNation.com breaks it all down.

There will be plenty of fanfare and hoopla at Syracuse's Midnight Madness, as there is every year.

Former Orange star Scoop Jardine will host the event along with his girlfriend and current Syracuse student, Jasmine Jordan. Jasmine happens to also be the daughter of Michael Jordan, arguably the greatest basketball player of all time.

Rapper Wale will be performing as well. The event will also be televised on ESPNU, and can be seen online via ESPN3.

Even with all of that going on, the most important part of the night for the program is the recruiting aspect of the event. In year's past, several big name prospects have attended. In 2011, Tyler Ennis, Isaiah Briscoe, and others were in attendance.

In 2012, the list is not complete, but there are some familiar names that should be in the Dome. 2013 point-guard Rysheed Jordan is taking an official visit on October 12th, the date of the event, and will stay to take in the kickoff to the 2012-13 season.

The only commit so far in the 2013 class, Tyler Ennis, has confirmed to CuseNation.com that he will be in attendance.

Another 2013 player, 4-star forward Tyler Roberson, is unsure if he will attend. However, he has been invited. Originally, he was planning on attending midnight madness at Kansas. Roberson changed his mind, and is considering attending Syracuse's midnight madness or taking a visit somewhere else closer to home. He already has an official visit set up for October 5th.

Chris McCullough, a 5-star 2014 forward, is also planning on attending. He confirmed his invite and his plans to attend with CuseNation.com earlier this week.

Other candidates to attend are Isaiah Whitehead, Jermaine Lawrence, Isaiah Briscoe, Wayne Selden, Brandon Austin, JaQuan Newton, Karl Towns, Chinonso Obokoh, and Thomas Bryant.

Isaiah Whitehead has told CuseNation.com that he has been invited to attend, but has not made a decision yet.
