Mistakes Kill Orange in Piscataway

The Orange continued to make mistakes as turnovers and penalties led to a loss at Rutgers 23-15.

The game started slow for both teams as the defenses asserted their dominance. Rutgers got on the scoreboard first by a Jawan Jamison 1-yard run. The Orange responded late in the 2nd quarter as the tank package allowed Adonis Ameen-Moore to run it in from 3-yards out. Syracuse had the momentum going into halftime tied 7-7.

The second half started well for Syracuse as they marched down the field. However, a field-goal attempt to take the lead was blocked and returned for a Rutgers touchdown. Ryan Nassib fumbled on the next drive which was turned into three points for the Scarlet Knights.

After a Steven Rene fumble turned into a touchdown pass from Gary Nova, the Orange still had a chance to tie after pulling to within 23-15 after a late touchdown pass to Chris Clark. However, Nassib threw an interception (Syracuse's fourth turnover of the game) and Rutgers ran the clock out. Syracuse drops to 2-4 on the season, and is 1-1 in Big East play. They face Connecticut on Friday night next week.
