SU Sets the Pace in Exhibition Win

Syracuse got contributions from everyone as the 2012-13 Orange squad took the floor for the first time in an exhibition win over Pace.

The Syracuse Orange never trailed the Pace Setters after going down 2-0 to open the game, with numerous players getting on the board.

In the backcourt, Brandon Triche had 11 and Michael Carter-Williams finished with 16.

C.J. Fair equaled Williams with 16 of his own, while the more defensive-leaning Rakeem Christmas and Baye Keita amounted 21 together, with Keita getting the bulk of those points with 14.

Newcomers Jerami Grant and DaJuan Coleman were tenacious going after rebounds in their first outing. At the rim, they both exhibited little trouble, with Grant heading to the sky for two dunks and Coleman muscling his way to 14 points.

James Southerland led all with 18 points, playing his game from the inside out instead of outside in, which has been his theme since joining the Orange. Southerland looked good from close, showing comfort in his game, before taking the ball beyond the arc for three connections from distance.

Everyone had an opportunity that suited up tonight, with eight players coming away with something in the points column.

Syracuse gains 55 in the first half and 44 in the second to close out the match with Pace just shy of 100 points, 99-63.
