Junior college linebacker Joe Walker has received plenty of interest from some major programs. Texas A&M, Syracuse, Duke, and Oregon are all showing strong interest. After his official visits to Texas A&M and Duke, he is looking forward to his visit to Syracuse this weekend.
"It was great," Walker recalled. "I really enjoyed it. He just talked about the school and was telling me things about the school. He came over and met my dad. He went over stuff with me and my dad. He was there for about an hour."
Adkins visit was an informative one. Walker was able to find out more about the school, as well as how he would fit into the defense. Adkins believes Walker would be a great fit into Scott Shafer's scheme.
"He was telling me about the school itself," Walked explained. 'Especially academically, that the number one thing was for me to do well in school. He told me about the big dome, the Carrier Dome.
"He told me I'd fit in well at linebacker. He said they have a high pressure defense, there's a lot of blitzing. He said I'd be able to do that in the system. Definitely a lot of blitzing. I'd be able to do some of that. Flying around as a linebacker, maybe even covering the slot receiver as well."
While educational, the visit also left a positive impression on Walker. As he moves closer to a decision, Syracuse remains very much in the mix.
"I was very impressed," Walker said. "It was great learning more about the school and stuff. I'm looking forward to my visit a little more now. He impressed me. It was cool. I didn't know much about the school before."
After he visits Syracuse this coming weekend, he is off to an official visit at Oregon the weekend of December 7th. Walker's plan is to make a decision after that, likely within a week.
