Syracuse commit Chinonso Obokoh's Bishop Kearney squad played against Jamesville-Dewitt in a high school matchup on Saturday, close to the place he will call home for the next four years. He did not start as he's still recovering from an injury, but continues to work hard on his game.
"Right now I'm feeling good," Obokoh admitted. "But I'm not 100% right now because I'm trying to get in shape. I missed a few weeks with the injury. Now I'm just running and stuff. I feel good.
"It set me back a little bit. But I can't let that get me. I've got to come in right now and just go hard."
The 3-star center knows he has a lot of work ahead of him to be ready to contribute at Syracuse. There are specific areas of his game that he continues to develop.
"I'm working on finishing at the rim," Obokoh claimed. "Keep working on my shot blocking and defense. The other thing I'm working on right now is my shooting and finishing at the rim."
"Yeah I work on my outside jumper. Also it helps me to warm up. So I can be ready to go in the game."
Despite his commitment, the Orange staff keeps in contact with the Rochester (NY) product to see how things are going. Though it was been a little less frequent with both parties working hard on their respective seasons.
"Sometimes me and the coaches talk," Obokoh recalled. "But right now they're busy and I'm busy so we don't talk as often."
As a commit, Obokoh watches the Orange nearly every game this season. He likes their prospects going forward.
"Yeah I watch them," Obokoh said. "The team looks great. I watch them play all the time. I know they work hard in practice. I wish them luck and I think they can go far."
