Cooper talks 'Cuse offer

Corey Cooper has several offers from all over the country, but he is still picking up extensions late in the process. His latest, from Syracuse, is one that he was waiting for. Details inside.

"Syracuse offered me," Corey Cooper informed Tuesday afternoon. "It was earlier today, when coach [George] McDonald called.

"He said he really wants me there and the coaching staff loves me. He talked to my dad, too."

The Raleigh (N.C.) Millbrook wide receiver holds several extensions, but this one has been in the works for some time and it resulted in a trip being scheduled.

"I'm going to visit this weekend and I'm going to reschedule a trip to Arkansas for the 1st," the three-star added. "It will be my official."

Cooper is more familiar with McDonald, the new SU offensive coordinator, from his brief stint as an Arkansas assistant. In fact, the day before taking the job with the Orange, McDonald had an in-home with Cooper in hopes of getting him to SEC country.

"I think it's a good school and I have family close to Syracuse, which is a plus," said the 6-foot, 185-pound Cooper of his additional ties to Syracuse, later adding that he has relatives in Buffalo, New York and New Haven, Connecticut.

Despite some ties and a sense of needing to learn more about several schools, there won't be a rush with a decision.

Said Cooper, "Syracuse has a good chance...but I don't have a list of top schools right now, I'm just exploring all the schools."
