The Defense Adds Another

Syracuse has gained another southern signee with the addition of Hodge. He shares in the moment with us at inside.

Miami Central High School linebacker Marqez Hodge will head up the east coast with fellow signee, tight end Tyler Provo, joining the 2013 Syracuse Orange football class.

"It feels good, feels real good," said Hodge. "I'm excited."

He described why Syracuse is the right fit for him. "It's a private school so they have good academics and I wanted a place away from home so I learn to like live on my own," Hodge expressed.

His best relationships with the Orange squad are with current players linebacker Oliver Vigille and safety Durell Eskridge.

Speaking on Eskridge, Hodge said, "He played football for my school, so I [have] known him for some time. Even when he was at Syracuse, I was talking to him when I was here at my high school. Same thing with Ollie (Oliver Vigille)."

Hodge shared that both Eskridge and Vigille helped get his name written on the dotted line for Syracuse. "They was like telling me new things, showing me around the place," Hodge remarked. "Oliver was my host so he was showing me around, how things work up there in Syracuse. It was nice. I loved it."
