The Bleeding Continues

The Orange have struggled away from the Carrier Dome, and it did not get any easier against the Golden Eagles. More inside.

The Syracuse Orange were on a seesaw in the first half on the road in Wisconsin against the Marquette Golden Eagles.

After leading by as many as 11 points, the Orange allowed their lead to dwindle down to three at the break, 32-29.

Keeping the back-and-forth motif going in the second half, the lead switched hands five times.

But with 5:08 remaining, Marquette would take the advantage for good, fittingly off of a make by junior forward Davante Gardner. Gardner finished with an all-time single-game high of 26 points, connecting on all seven of his attempts from the field and 12-for-13 from the free throw line.

Syracuse hit late threes to get within three, but time ran out in a 74-71 loss.

Five of six losses by the Orange have come on the road as the Orange dip below the Golden Eagles, who are flying high with a better opportunity to claim the top spot in the Big East Conference after the victory.
