Jalen Williams was recently upgraded to a 3-star safety in the latest 2014 Scout rankings. He currently holds three offers, but has interest from many others.
"First, I was offered by Syracuse last year as a tenth grader," Williams recalled. "Recently, a couple weeks ago, University of Massachusetts and Buffalo offered. Connecticut has been showing interest, as well as Rutgers and Temple. North Carolina State, Georgia Tech, Boston College, and Penn State."
The Orange were the first to offer the Newburgh Free Academy (NY) standout. However, that offer came from the old staff. The new staff has reached out to his coach recently to let him know the offer still stands and set up a visit.
"I know my head coach has been in contact with Rob Moore," Williams described. "He's the coach that offered me. I haven't been in contact with them directly. But my coach has been in contact with them. The offer is still there.
"Coach Moore is a good guy. I went up there a couple years ago for a junior day visit. I'm supposed to be going to visit again in April. I'm hoping to get a little more information and knowledge about their school when I go down this year to visit."
With two offers from in-state schools, location is going to be a big factor in where Williams decides to go.
"Staying close to home is great and very important," Williams declared. "My parents would love to be able to come out and see me play wherever I decide to go to school. So location is definitely important in my decision."
Even with location being important and two local offers, Williams won't be committing anytime soon. He believes he has to evaluate all of his options before making such an important decision.
"I'm still open right now," Williams admitted. "The two new offers just came to me. I'm really not sure where I want to go yet. I want to wait it out a little and hopefully let it go into my season. Maybe decide in the middle of my season or at the beginning.
"I just want to see all the offers that come in and weigh all of my options."
