Trying For A Comeback, But Not Enough

The Orange and the Wolverines made it interesting in the Georgia Dome, with the Wolverines scraping away at the 2-3 zone to head to the title game with the Louisville Cardinals. More inside.

In the first half of the Syracuse Orange and the Michigan Wolverines' Final Four match, the tell of the first 20 minutes was simply this: Michigan hit threes.

Syracuse and Michigan did not turn over the ball much in the opening half, with three and two turnovers, respectively.

The Orange and the Wolverines tied in blocks with three and in steals with two.

Syracuse went 11-for-27, Michigan 13-for-29.

But the six made attempts from beyond the arc for the Wolverines provided half of their halftime total (18 of 36) and placed them ahead of the Orange, 36-25, at the break.

For the second half, Syracuse forwards C.J. Fair and Jerami Grant turned on to grab rebounds and add points, helping the Orange to within one possession.

Syracuse keeps it close down the stretch with Michigan, as Michael Carter-Williams fouls out.

With Brandon Triche fouling out shortly after, the Orange got nothing on their final possession and the Wolverines dunk home their opportunity to move onto the championship game, 61-56.
