2014 East St. Louis High (IL) WR/S Treevon Prater picked up his first two offers from Syracuse and Indiana State on Wednesday. The Orange offered when they visited his school and spoke to his coach. Prater says he believes more will be on the way.
"Yes sir Syracuse offered," Prater said. "They came to visit our school. I think it was the wide receivers coach (Rob Moore). He was talking to my coach. He just said I was athletic. They were interested in me because I was long and athletic. I can do it all.
"I just said it was the beginning of it. I want more. This and Indiana State were my first two offers. It's pretty nice to get the first ones. My parents were happy. They kept going on and on. They told me to do what I got to do."
Despite the extreme interest the Syracuse staff has had in Illinois, Prater does not know much about the program. He is hoping to learn more and possibly take a visit.
"I really don't know that much about the program," Prater admitted. "But I know they have a really nice program. I want to get to know them better."
Prater says while the first two offers came recently, he has been hearing from several programs. Two, however, speak to him the most.
Still early in the process, Prater is in no rush to make a decision. That said, he knows what he's looking for in a school.
"I'm open," Prater claimed. "I'm going to let the process play out. Probably the education is the most important. I want to major in communications and broadcasting."
Prater added that Syracuse's Newhouse School will be a big factor in his recruitment and is one of the reasons he is interested in the Orange.
