Dawson Sets Top Three

Lamar Dawson is up to nine offers after Syracuse offered earlier this week. The St. Rita High (IL) 3-star cornerback is also focused on three schools as he looks towards a final decision. He discusses the latest inside.

Lamar Dawson was offered by Syracuse recently as the Orange look for defensive backfield talent. It was the ninth offer for he St. Rita (IL) standout.

"They offered Wednesday," Dawson claimed. "Their coach, Coach Smith, he coaches the running backs, he recruits Chicago. He had sent me a message on Facebook. I had seen it so I called him about an hour later. We were just talking about Syracuse stuff, football and how recruiting is going.

"Then he called me and said they had an offer for me and I thanked them and stuff like that. That was about it. We just talked about Syracuse football."

Despite Syracuse entering the process only recently for Dawson, he says they are very high on his list. In fact, he says he has a top three, and the Orange made the cut.

"They're pretty high," Dawson admitted. "They came into the school not too long ago. They got my film and probably all just watched it this past week. I mean, I've never received mail from them or anything so I just talked to them when they came into my school. They just followed up on it.

"It's between, right now I would say, my top three of Michigan State, Syracuse, and Cincinnati."

Focused on three schools, Dawson is looking at making a decision soon. However, not until he has a chance to visit the Syracuse campus.

"Sometime in June I want to get up there," Dawson said. "I definitely want to decide over the summer before the season starts. I'm thinking late June, right before we start practicing for real. Sometime during our camp or whatever I'll just make my decision then."
