"Yes sir, yes sir," Walker said. "I was very excited. It was Coach (Fred) Reed. Coach Reed. He came to my school and talked to my head coach. I saw him in the hallway but didn't get to talk to him. I saw my coach and he told me the great news. I was very excited. ACC ball, you know? Just really excited.
"This was the first time with Syracuse in person or on the phone or anything. I've had some on Facebook, about four coaches added me. I talked to the recruiting coordinator on there and he told me I'd look good in Orange. He said that they were going to offer me, but Coach Reed would come down and make it official. I'm just very excited and blessed."
The 6-doot-2 prospect is still learning about the Orange, but he does know a little.
"Syracuse is a good program," Walker explained. "The history is great. Great coaching staff and a new coach coming in. They're going to the ACC this year and they play in the Dome. That way you don't have to worry about the weather.
"Great team, great program. Looking forward to learning more about Syracuse and we'll see how things work out."
While Walker's summer figures to be busy with visits and camps, he says he would like to visit the Syracuse campus as well.
"I think I might try to get up there this summer," Walker claimed. "I'll have to fit it into my schedule. I'll definitely look forward to visiting Syracuse."
The Bethel High standout still claims no favorites despite his long list of offers. He says many are coming at him hard, and he would like to trim his list soon.
"Nobody's sticking out right now," Walker admitted. "I'm open to everybody. I'll probably have a top five coming up in the summer. I'm hearing from a bunch of schools like ACC schools. Virginia Tech, North Carolina, Boston College, and in the Big Ten you've got Wisconsin and Penn State.
"Those schools contact me and we're building relationships. I plan on taking my official visits before a decision. It depends on how everything turns out but we'll see what happens."
