"I talked to Coach (Clark) Lea," Clemons recalled. "He said they offered me at receiver. They want to use me in their wildcat packages. My coach was talking to me and I said I wanted to play receiver if I can't play quarterback in college.
"So I guess he talked to the Syracuse coach and he watched my film. They said they like me at receiver. They also like me at kick returner, punt returner and different packages in their offense."
One of the reasons the Orange offer stood out to Clemons is how they would use him within their offensive system.
"I was excited about them," Clemons claimed. "The plans they have for me make it even better. A lot of the time schools will say we want you to play receiver and you might not get on the field.
"Syracuse acted like they were really interested in me. I like the packages they had and plans for me. That just made it even better."
While a visit hasn't been discussed or planned yet, it is something the 5-foot-11 athlete would like to do over the summer.
"We haven't got into too much detail about that," Clemons admitted. "I'm going to talk to my parents and will see if I can get up there. If not this summer, then the fall definitely."
Still early in the process, Clemons says he has a few schools standing out.
"My favorites right now would be N.C. State at receiver, Syracuse at receiver, and Middle Tennessee at quarterback."
Clemons added that he has no timeframe for a decision right now.
