Holloway High on Syracuse

Corey Holloway picked up his first BCS offer during the evaluation period when Syracuse pulled the trigger. He discusses intereset in the Orange, time frame for a decision, and visit plans inside.

Syracuse hit the state of Georgia hard during the evaluation period. One of the prospects in the Peach State to pick up an offer was McDonough (GA) Eagles Landing running back Corey Holloway.

"Syracuse told my head coach," Holloway said. "My head coach gave me his number and told me to give them a call. So I called and they basically said they offered me. He basically was saying that he talked to the head coach (Scott Shafer) earlier and he offered me. He was just letting me know, myself, that they were offering me.

"He told me that he liked me being able to be mobile and versatile. They liked how I run through holes and things like that, and how I'm a one cut back."

Holloway knows a little bit about the Syracuse program. In fact, one of the players he looks up to just finished his senior season in Orange.

"My interest level is very high for them," Holloway admitted. "I know a little bit about them because of Shamarko Thomas. That's who I like and I watch his videos and stuff. They really work hard up there and they won a bowl game this year. They're really a determined team and program.

"I'm not sure if I'm going to take a visit this summer because it's far from Georgia. I'm thinking about making a decision after football season. I want to take an official visit in the fall. Yes sir, definitely."

Sitting on five offers, Holloway is not looking to decide until after senior season so that he can take official visits to schools that are not close to home.

"Georgia State has offered me," Holloway listed. "Western Kentucky, Kennesaw State, and Mercer. I don't have any favorites yet. Not quite. I'm looking for the school that's coming onto me the strongest.

"I want to look and see which team has the least amount of running backs signed. Playing time."
