Ervin Phillips Commits to Syracuse

West Haven (CT) running back Ervin Phillips made his first trip to the Syracuse campus on Sunday. He didn't leave without pulling the trigger on a verbal commitment.

Ervin Phillips had to delay his original visit due to Father's Day. One week later, he arrived on the Syracuse campus to check things out for the first time. The West Haven (CT) product saw all he needed to see as he committed before heading back home.

Phillips joins Syracuse as a running back, the second in the 2014 class. However, there is a possibility that Naesean Howard could be moved to safety. A.J. Long has helped the Orange recruit Phillips, sending him messages on twitter trying to get him to commit.

Syracuse was a "dream offer" for Phillips when the Orange extended a scholarship opportunity during the evaluation period. That dream became a reality for the talented running back when he verbally pledged during his unofficial visit.

Phillips is the sixth member of Syracuse's 2014 class. He chose the Orange over an offer from Temple, and interest from Boston College, Connecticut, Maryland, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, and others.
