Jason Cabinda's recruitment picked up significantly as the spring evaluation period went along. Suddenly, he had several major conference offers to choose from. Now, he is ready to bring the process to an end with as decision day has arrived.
Cabinda will announce his verbal commitment on Monday as he considers a few northeast schools. He is set to announce his decision via Twitter at 7pm eastern time. Maryland was originally in the mix, but he cancelled a planned visit and said they were no longer in consideration.
The Flemington (NJ) Hunterdon Central outside linebacker also had a trip to Boston College planned for last week. However, his twitter account suggests he may not have made that visit. It remains to be seen if the Eagles are really in play.
However, head coach Steve Addazio has a strong reputation of being able to develop relationships. B.C. commits have been vocal about getting Cabinda to join the Eagles 2014 class as well. If he did take the visit and enjoyed it, the Eagles are a likely landing spot.
Syracuse has made Cabinda one of their top priorities ever since they extended the offer. Current Orange commits have texted and tweeted with Cabinda on a frequent basis to let him know how important he was to Syracuse's future.
He loved his visit a little over a week ago, and has a strong relationship with defensive coordinator Chuck Bullough and linebackers coach Clark Lea. The Orange have recruited him as hard as any of their targets, and are hoping for good news on the first official day of their new ACC affiliation.
Temple really likes Cabinda's athleticism, and thinks he has the potential to be a special addition to the Owls. He enjoyed his visit to the campus, and has built a solid relationship with the coaching staff. A win here would be a big victory over regional ACC opponents.
