Orange Land 3-star Corner

Syracuse picked up their first commitment in nearly three weeks, and tenth overall in 2014, when Chicago (IL) St. Rita cornerback Lamar Dawson pulled the trigger during an unofficial visit on Saturday.

The worst kept secret in the world of Syracuse recruiting was that a Lamar Dawson commitment was imminent as soon as he made the trip east to visit the campus. The St. Rita (Chicago, IL) standout made that trip on Saturday and, as expected, made his pledge to play for the Orange.

The 3-star corner continues Syracuse's recruiting efforts in the Midwest being the third commitment from the region. Dawson gives the Orange their third defensive back commitment in 2014 but the first at cornerback.

It took nearly three weeks after Dawson declared Syracuse as his top school before he pulled the trigger. A visit was necessary to seal the deal. The Orange staff did just that as the 6-foot corner took in the campus for the first time.

Dawson becomes the tenth member of Syracuse's class. He chose Syracuse over Cincinnati, Michigan State, Northern Illinois and Toledo among others.
