Syracuse Tracking Demby

Jamil Demby jumped onto the Syracuse radar after camping with the Orange in June. Demby has remained in communication with the staff, and says Syracuse will continue to track him early on in his senior season. He discusses that and more inside.

Offensive tackle is one of the positions of need for Syracuse in the 2014 class. They are without a commitment there so far, but are still looking at some talented prospects. One such target is Vineland (NJ) OT Jamil Demby.

Demby camped at Syracuse during the summer, but didn't come away with an offer. He is still on the Orange's radar, though, and thinks that offer could come early on during his senior season.

"My coach actually came in contact with Coach Perles a couple of days ago," Demby recalled. "He said they were going to offer me right there at camp but I banged up my shoulder in the 1-on-1s which took me out of camp. But he said he wants to see my first two game films. If I do good, they will offer."

Pulling in an offer from a BCS conference school like Syracuse would mean a lot to Demby. While he wouldn't commit on the spot, the Orange would vault to the top of his list. After he was able to get up to campus, he could choose the school if he feels at home.

"It would be a great accomplishment," Demby admitted. "Syracuse is big time football and it would mean a lot coming from a small town in South Jersey. I would have to see the campus, facilities, and get more familiar with the staff before I commit on the spot."

Recently, Demby picked up his first offer. Lafeyette extended the offer during a strong camp performance. The first is always special, and one that Demby was proud to have.

"It meant a lot because my first offer was the camp I was going to for the summer," Demby explained. "I was hoping I could pull away with an offer. So it really touched me to see hard work pay off."

Syracuse and Lafayette aren't the only schools after Demby. He believes more offers are on the way.

"Old Dominion and I believe Delaware and Villanova are close to offering," Demby claimed. "Boston College, Monmouth, and UMass are also showing interest. That's about it right now."
