Three star, 2015 shooting guard Donovan Mitchell already holds a bunch of offers. But recently, another school entered the mix to express their interest.
"I spoke to coach (Mike) Hopkins (at Syracuse)," Mitchell said. "He was just informing me that people had informed him about me. He had never seen me play which is why he wanted me to come up to the camp this past weekend, but I wasn't able to get up there. He was saying they are going to start recruiting me as of right now. Since I'm going to Brewster and Chris (McCullough) is up there, they're going to be seeing me a lot."
Mitchell is still growing. He believes if his body continues that trend, it could lead to bigger and better things down the road.
"We haven't really talked about what position I would play there yet," Mitchell said. "I think it's because they haven't seen me play so they don't know what I can and can't do. But hopefully I will continue to grow. I don't know if you know but I have a size 17 shoe. So hopefully I can grow into that and be around 6-foot-6. But if I stay this height (6-foot-2), then I might stay as a two."
The talented guard knows a lot about Syracuse from growing up in the Empire State. He has grown up watching the Orange which helps with his familiarity with their system.
"I watch Syracuse all the time," Mitchell said. "I'm actually from New York. I recently moved to Greenwich, Connecticut. I do know a lot about their program. I watch them a lot on TV as well."
Mitchell currently holds seven offers. If Syracuse were to join that list, they would be major players for his services.
"The offers I have are from Boston College, Iowa, Iona, Providence, UConn, Maryland, Cincinnati and I believe that's it," Mitchell said. "I don't have a list of priorities or favorites right now, but if Syracuse offered they're definitely towards the top. Obviously because they're Syracuse but also because I've seen how I could fit into their system. So they'd be at the top, definitely."
