While A.J. Long is helping Syracuse recruit in 2014, the Orange are looking at his high school for a 2015 prospect. Three star 2015 two way lineman prospect Andrew Wood is also being pursued by Syracuse.
"Yes Syracuse offered a while back," Wood said. "They came down to see A.J. Long. They got to talking about me and told my coach that they were going to offer me. It was pretty exciting. I was excited. I had never really thought about them, but now that they've offered, looking into them, it's pretty exciting."
Wood is still early in the process and learning about Syracuse.
"I know a couple things about the program," Wood said. "I know where it is and A.J. really likes it. We've had some conversations about getting me up there to check things out. He wants me to watch a game and see what it's like to be around there.
"It would be pretty exciting to play with him. Again, I'd have to look into it more academically."
One way to learn about a program is visiting the campus. While Wood does not have a trip scheduled, he would like to take one at some point in order to see what the Orange are all about.
"It's a possibility," Wood said. "It's a long trip but I'd like to check things out. We'll have to see how things go in the future. I'm definitely going to try to get up there."
Syracuse isn't the only school after Wood who is starting to make a name for himself in the 2015 class.
"Other schools that have offered are Vanderbilt, Duke and Navy," Wood said. "I have interest from Ole Miss, Northwestern, Wake Forest and Louisville. I'm still pretty much wide open and taking the process slow. Syracuse is one of my top options."
Syracuse is recruiting Wood as an offensive lineman.
