Recruiting Weekend Primer

Syracuse is set to face Pittsburgh in a critical battle on Saturday. Several recruits will be on campus, many who are already committed. breaks it all down inside.

Syracuse is hosting Pittsburgh on Saturday with bowl eligibility on the line. Several recruits will be in attendance to check out the Orange on game day.

Uncommitted Targets

Saquon Barkley
Class: 2015
Position: Running Back
School: Whitehall High School (Whitehall, Pa.)
The Latest: Barkley is currently committed to Rutgers, but is taking the trip to Syracuse to give the Orange a look. He will be traveling with Syracuse commits K.J. Williams and A.J. Long. Barkley says he is giving Syracuse a serious look, though he remains committed to the Scarlet Knights.

Patrice Rene
Class: 2016
Position: Cornerback
School: St. Peter's Secondary School (Ontario, Canada)
Rating: NR
The Latest: Syracuse was the first school to offer Rene, who remains very interested in the Orange. He is an extremely talented prospect who will likely garner major attention before his recruitment is done. Syracuse is laying the groundwork here, and Rene likes that they are close to home. He was originally planning on visiting for the game this weekend, but has pushed it back to next weekend when Boston College comes to town.


A.J. Long
Class: 2014
Position: Quarterback
School: Friendship Christian School (Lebanon, Tenn.)
The Latest: Long will be working on Barkley while on the trip, while also spending time with his future teammates. He will be enrolling in January and is excited to start his college career.

K.J. Williams
Class: 2014
Position: Wide Receiver
School: Liberty High School (Bethlehem, Pa.)
The Latest: Williams will be taking first trip to see a game day atmosphere in the Carrier Dome. The four star receiver is a solid commit, but it never hurts to solidify your position with a talented prospect.

Naesean Howard
Class: 2014
Position: Safety
School: West Genesee High School (Syracuse, N.Y.)
The Latest: Howard has been to every home game this season, and will continue that for the final two contests as the Orange look to become bowl eligible. He is as solid a verbal pledge as you can have, and is excited about his future with his dream school.

Rodney Williams
Class: 2014
Position: Safety
School: Cherry Hill High-West High School (Cherry Hill, N.J.)
The Latest: Williams seems to become more and more excited about coming to Syracuse with each passing day. He is excited to check out the game day atmosphere in the Carrier Dome in person for the second time. He will be helping A.J. and K.J. work on Barkley.

Zaire Franklin
Class: 2014
Position: Linebacker
School: La Salle College High School (Wyndmoor, Pa.)
The Latest: Franklin has watched just about every Syracuse game this season, and Saturday will mark the third he has attended in person. He is a solid pledge to the Orange and will take his official in January when he can help them recruit some of their priority targets.
