Fair Bloodied on Monster Dunk

C.J. Fair had one of the dunks of the year on the early college basketball season in the first half against Minnesota. The slam left him with a bloodied cheek, however.

C.J. Fair seems to be good for one or two monster dunks each season. He got his first of the season on Monday against Minnesota in the Maui Invitational. With a little over four minutes left in the first half, Fair took a pass Baye Kieta at the top of the lane.

He took a strong dribble and leaped into the air towards the basket. Fair threw down the dunk with strength and ferocity. Austin Hollins attempted to make a play on the ball, but missed badly and hit Fair across the face.

No foul was called, but the contact was clearly evident as Fair was left with a gash on his right cheek that oozed with blood. He came out of the game briefly, and was given a bandage to stop the bleeding.

Fair returned shortly after that, and came out in the second half with a vengeance. In a key 13-2 run after intermission, Fair had eight of those points as the Orange would never trail in the final frame.

Syracuse held on to beat Minnesota 75-67 and faces California on Tuesday as the Maui Invitational continues.
