Recruiting Weekend Primer

Syracuse may not be playing this weekend, but that doesn't mean the weekend won't have a huge impact on the program. They host several priority targets for official visits. previews the weekend inside.

The regular season is over, and Syracuse is awaiting their bowl fate. Maybe more important than that is the big recruiting weekend they have ahead of them that could have a huge impact on the 2014 class.

Uncommitted Targets

Cordell Hudson
Position: Cornerback
School: Largo High School (Largo, Fla.)
The Latest: Hudson is down to Syracuse, Rutgers and Iowa State. He has officials scheduled to the Orange this weekend and the Scarlet Knights next weekend. This official will have a huge impact on where Syracuse stands. The Orange could have the most stable coaching situation of the three remaining schools.

Nile Sykes
Position: Outside Linebacker
School: Montini Catholic School (Lombard, Ill.)
The Latest: When Notre Dame offered recently, Sykes appeared to be headed to South Bend. However, he has not made a commitment and the longer things draw out the better it is for the Orange. The Irish and Missouri are the two favorites, but Syracuse has a chance to make a big impression here.

Chris Slayton
Position: Defensive End
School: Crete-Monee High School (Crete, Ill.)
The Latest: Slayton's recruitment has been very quiet throughout. It has been hard to gauge where things stand. But defensive end is a huge position of need for Syracuse, and Slayton is the top target on their board. Expect the Orange to make a big push this weekend.

Committed Elsewhere

Jaboree' Williams
Position: Outside Linebacker
School: Fort Lauderdale High School (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.)
The Latest: Williams is in flux because of the coaching situation at Wake Forest. Syracuse has emerged as one of the favorites, and has a chance to show him a lot of love this weekend. He may leave uncommitted, but that won't mean the Orange are out of it. He takes an official to Pittsburgh next weekend and will decide shortly after.

A.J. Long
Class: 2014
Position: Quarterback
School: Friendship Christian School (Lebanon, Tenn.)
The Latest: Long is on this trip for two reasons. He is a January enrollee, so any official has to be prior to his on campus arrival. Secondly, this is a big recruiting weekend for Syracuse. Long will help try to convince the on campus prospects why the Orange is the best fit.
