Predicting Syracuse's 2014 Class

Syracuse is looking to finish out their 2014 class. CuseNation.com predicts exactly who will fill the remaining slots inside.

Syracuse has 14 prospects already committed to their 2014 class. How will the rest of the class finish up? How many more will the Orange take? Based on what we know currently, we give our predictions below.

WR Steve Ishmael – The three star Sunshine State wide receiver has had Syracuse at the top for a while now. His relationship with offensive coordinator George McDonald is very strong. He rounds out a big receiving haul for the Orange.

OT Denzel Ward – Syracuse will get Ward on campus in January. Despite being committed to Purdue, he is exploring all of his options. When he makes the trip east, I expect him to pull the trigger. His relationships with Aaron Roberts and Kendall Moore are big factors.

DT Zeek Rodney – Syracuse wants a defensive tackle in this class, and after Thomas Holley eliminated the Orange, Rodney became more of a priority. Expect him to pledge Orange when he takes his visit in January.

DE Chris Slayton – This is the toughest one to call. He's one of the more difficult recruitments to read. Still, Syracuse's success in the Midwest and defensive end being a position of need leads me to believe he ends up picking the Orange at the end of the day.

OLB Jaboree' Williams - Williams is committed to Wake Forest, but their head coach just resigned. He is taking official visits to Syracuse and Pittsburgh before deciding. With academics such a big priority, I expect him to choose the Orange. He seems enamored with their medical program.

OLB Jonathan Thomas - Syracuse will have Thomas on an official in January. He wanted to commit to Oklahoma, but they told him to wait on visiting. The Orange will make him feel more welcome and he will verbal during his visit.

CB Cordell Hudson - Hudson is another priority at a key position for Syracuse. He is down to Syracuse, Iowa State and Rutgers. The Orange may be the program with the most stable coaching staff. That ultimately leads Hudson to choose Syracuse.

CB Kryon Brown - Hallmon might be a popular choice to fill out the corner selection for Syracuse. However, I have a feeling he ends up at Wisconsin. Brown was visited by Syracuse this past week and likes the Orange.

Two unknown prospects - I think Syracuse ends up with another OT and another prospect at any of several positions. Currently, that could be defensive back, running back, defensive line, or linebacker. We will have to wait and see. If I had to guess, it would be a defensive back.

The class finishing up as stated above would leave it, by position, looking as follows:

Quarterback (2): A.J. Long, Alin Edouard
Running Back (1): Ervin Philips
Wide Receiver (4): K.J. Williams, Steve Ishmael, Corey Cooper, Jamal Custis
Tight End (0): None
Offensive Line (3): Aaron Roberts, Denzel Ward, Unknown
Defensive Line (3): Wayne Williams, Chris Slayton, Zeek Rodney
Linebacker (5): Colton Moskal, Zaire Franklin, Parris Bennett, Jaboree Williams, Jonathan Thomas
Defensive Back (6): Lamar Dawson, Naesean Howard, Rodney Williams, Cordell Hudson, Kyron Brown, Unknown

The above class would be Syracuse's best since the late 90s/early 2000s. It would likely be ranked in the 40s nationally, which would be a nice haul for the Orange.
