Rakeem Christmas has some offensive moves in his arsenal after all. In the first half of Syracuse's 68-63 road win over St. John's, Christmas got the ball at the top of the key. He drove right, spun to the left and finished with a layup at the rim.
It was perhaps the best offensive move of his Syracuse career. On a day where the Orange needed productivity from everywhere on the floor, Christmas scored eight points, grabbed three rebounds and blocked two shots in 20 minutes of action.
Syracuse fans would take that from the junior big man every game. Rakeem also added a pretty baby hook midway through the second half with St. John's making a run.
Christmas was aggressive, played smart and made an impact on the defensive end of the floor. The Orange have enough weapons offensively that they don't need huge scoring nights from their bigs. But if they want to take that next step as a team, they need solid production up front.
Christmas gave a glimmer of hope on Sunday that he is starting to put it together.
