Washington leaving Syracuse

James Washington has decided to leave the Syracuse program, CuseNation.com has learned.

Syracuse had already lost one player to transfer when Josh Manley announced his intentions earlier this week. On Thursday, CuseNation.com learned that another redshirt freshman backup will be leaving the Orange as well.

Reserve linebacker James Washington is transferring out of the Syracuse program. A source close to the situation said Washington wanted to be closer to home. Washington will transfer to Bethune Cookman, an FCS school in Daytona Beach, and be eligible to play next season.

Washington came to Syracuse as a two star linebacker out of Winter Park High School in Florida. He chose the Orange over Cincinnati, Duke, Illinois, Pittsburgh, Purdue, South Carolina and West Virginia.
