Syracuse runs away from High Point

It took some time, but Syracuse (11-0) was able to put away High Point, 75-54, behind a second half scoring surge. Brief recap inside.

Syracuse, N.Y.-- Despite looking a tad bit lethargic in the first half of play, Syracuse regrouped in the second half and put away High Point, 75-54, Friday evening at the Carrier Dome.

Trevor Cooney injected life into the crowd around the seven-minute mark with back-to-back threes, but the Orange just couldn't shake the Panthers heading into halftime. High Point shot roughly 60 percent from behind the arc, figuring out the workings of Syracuse's zone defense.

In the second half, it wasn't until five minutes in that Syracuse was able to catch its breathe and establish a mini lead. Freshman point guard Tyler Ennis' back-to-back buckets gave the Orange a five-point cushion, 45-40, coming out of a timeout.

From there, the Orange did not look back. With the win, Syracuse is 11-0 on the season.

Much more to come on
