Syracuse runs away from North Carolina

In front of 31,000-plus fans, Syracuse defeated/lost to North Carolina Saturday afternoon at the Carrier Dome, 57-45. Brief recap inside.

Syracuse, N.Y. -- After racing out to an early 8-2 start behind James Michael McAdoo's hot shooting, North Carolina seemed to have figured out Syracuse's 2-3 zone.

The Tar Heels utilized the sweet spot of the zone very early and had its way for the most part. Ball movement was crisp and had Orange players scrambling.

That feeling, however, was short-lived for the Tar Heels. Syracuse settled in and hunkered down on both ends around the 14-minute mark.

C.J. Fair and Jerami Grant led the way for the Orange in the first-half, combining for 23 points.

Syracuse's zone and solid rebounding effort stymied North Carolina's offensive production. The Tar Heels drifted away from what was working early on: post play. The turnovers and lack of rebounded were factors, too.

Syracuse controlled the second half, running away for an easy conference victory 57-45. The Orange improved to 16-0 on the season with the win.
