Philips puts pen to paper

Letters of intent continue to roll in for Syracuse, and one who signed is West Haven (Conn.) running back Ervin Philips. He discusses signing day with inside.

Syracuse was thought to be want several running back prospects int he 2014 class. Turns out, they only had room for one. That was West Haven (Conn.) High Ervin Philips, who signed with the Orange on Wednesday.

"It's an honor and a privilege to be a part of the program officially," Philips said. "I'm looking forward to developing my game at Syracuse and playing in front of my family and friends."

With his college football career in front of him, excitement describes the vibe around the two-star running back. With that excitement comes focus and determination.

Philips has set lofty goals for himself and the program during his tenure at Syracuse.

"I want to win an ACC Championship," Philips said. "I want to help the program as much as I can and bring Syracuse back to the top.

"Oh, and I want to win a Heisman. Why not me?"

The good news for Syracuse fans is that Philips says he has been doing really well in school and is on track to qualify.
