"I'm very interested in the defense," Jackson said. "I know a couple of guys from the northwest Michigan area that are already on the team. I actually know someone that committed to Syracuse that played the same position I play and we talked about the defense.
"The past couple of years I've really watched Syracuse and I love the program. I would like to be a part of it someday."
One of those players that Jackson is knows is a class of 2014 Syracuse signee.
"Yes I know Parris Bennett," Jackson said. "We played together on a travel team. He said he loved it. We've talked about Syracuse."
Having Bennett part of the program gives Syracuse an edge in Jackson's recruitment.
"Yes, definitely," Jackson said. "I would really like to be a part of the program. I like it. The way Parris Bennett was describing it, it's one of the best places to play defense and get a great degree. You get a really good education because I know he wants to major in engineering. He's telling it's real good for life after football."
Syracuse has not been in touch directly yet. They will, however, once his junior year beings. Should the Orange extend an offer at that point, it would put Syracuse very high on his list.
"I wouldn't say I would commit on the spot," Jackson said. "There's a lot of other big schools that I'm talking to. But they would definitely be in my top five."
Jackson is also hearing from Georgia, Florida State, Michigan State, Northwestern, Indiana, Cincinnati, South Florida, Akron and Toledo. None have offered, but he believes Akron will soon when he visits in a couple of weeks.
