Sachse (Tex.) High running back Devine Ozigbo has maintained interest in the Syracuse Orange, but had not seen that interest reciprocated. That was until recently when they reached out to the three-star prospect.
"It wasn't the first time I had talked to Syracuse, but they did reach out last week," Ozigbo said. "It was the first time a while. I hadn't heard from them. It was good to hear from them. It definitely keeps them in the mix.
"It was Eric White that talked to me. He just basically told me that Syracuse was interested in me and that they are still evaluating prospects. But he wanted to let me know that they'd be in touch and that they are interested."
Ozigbo has ties to the northeast, and has family and friends that are fans of the Orange.
"The distance isn't a problem because I'm originally from Boston," Ozigbo said. "I knew a lot about Syracuse when I lived there. I know they're a pretty good team and getting better. I know they're the best team in that state, especially."
Despite playing much closer than normal, Ozigbo was not able to watch the Orange in their postseason appearance. He did, however, visit Syracuse last season.
"I didn't get to see them in the Texas Bowl," Ozigbo said. "But I did see them play Clemson last season in the Carrier Dome. The atmosphere was awesome. I really liked it. They have some awesome fans. Seeing all the orange, it was pretty cool."
"It's a relief to have those offers," Ozigbo said. "Knowing I have an opportunity at those schools is great. I'm wide open though, no favorites. I'm also hearing from Oregon State."
Ozigbo is still a ways away from a decision.
