Florida was a big pipeline for Syracuse last recruiting cycle, and the Orange are hitting up the talent-rich state again in 2015. Recently, they offered four-star Saint Petersburg (Fla.) Lakewood wide receiver Ryan Davis.
"I was offered (Thursday)," he said. "They added me on Facebook and Twitter. One of their coaches told me to call him (Tim Lester). I did and he offered. He told me they were excited about me at Syracuse and they wanted to get me up there for a visit because they think I can do big things on the field.
"This was the first I heard from Syracuse. It was kind of surprising because I had never heard from them before. It was out of nowhere so I kind of felt like they were trying to get their hands on me while they still can."
Davis is looking to develop a relationship with Syracuse and their coaching staff. One key way to do that is to visit the campus and check out the program in person.
"I definitely want to get up there," Davis said. "They just offered me so I haven't really scheduled a date. But I want to check it out so I'll have to try to get up there."
"Everybody has a great chance with me," Davis said. "I'm open to anybody, so Syracuse has as good of a chance as anybody."
Davis is friends with class of 2014 Orange signee Cordell Hudson, who has already called the four star receiver to help Syracuse recruit him. Hudson told Davis how much he loved Syracuse and that he wants Davis to join him in Central New York.
While that will certainly help Syracuse, Davis says he needs to find the best fit for him. He plans on making his decision after taking all of his official visits.
