Tucker adds first BCS offer

Davon Tucker is a talented running back out of New Jersey. He recently picked up his third offer, and first from a BCS program, when Syracuse pulled the trigger. He discusses the Orange inside.

Running back is a key position for Syracuse in 2015. They are also trying to get back into New Jersey as a major player in the state. The Orange are looking to kill two birds with one stone with their recent offer to Somerdale (N.J.) Sterling High running back Davon Tucker.

"I was in class and my guidance counselor came down to get me," Tucker said. "I went into my coach's office and the Syracuse coach was on the phone. We started talking and he offered me. It was coach Shafer, the head coach.

"He said I was tough, I have good vision and he liked my speed."

The offer was the first from a major conference school, as Tucker also has Ball State and Western Michigan on his resume. The Orange offer, though, was special for the 5-foot-10 prospect.

"I was excited." Tucker said. "My parents were proud of me. It was good. We were all happy."

Up next for Tucker is to visit Syracuse in order to find out if it is the right fit. That could happen sooner rather than later.

"He gave me a couple of dates," Tucker said. "One of their coaches sent me some dates when I could visit. I'm thinking of going up there this Sunday. We're going to try to work something out."

Tucker is not sure of a time frame for his decision, as that will depend on how his recruitment progresses. That said, the Orange have certainly caught his attention.

"I like Syracuse very much," Tucker said.
