Wiley returns to Syracuse

Syracuse hosted Drew Wiley for the second time in the last two weeks as he visited to check out their spring game. The three-star linebacker recaps his return trip inside.

It's not often that a prospect without an offer takes two early visits to the same school, but that's exactly what Pennington (N.J.) Hopewell Valley middle linebacker Drew Wiley did with Syracuse.

He was on campus for the second time this month over the weekend.

"We took a tour of the facilities and coach Shafer gave a speech to the whole group," Wiley said. "It was good. I really enjoyed my time there. My favorite part was the spring game.

"I liked just watching some football. The game was good. The wide receiver that did very well, number one, he stood out to me."

Another part of the trip that was important was Wiley spending time with the Syracuse coaches. He was even able to go out to eat with one of them to further develop that relationship.

"I sat down and lunch with coach (Clark) Lea," Wiley said. "I also talked to coach (Chuck) Bullough for a little bit. I talked to the recruiting coach for my area, coach (Bobby) Acosta.

"With coach Lea, we mainly talked about where he was from and his background. He asked what my favorite play was on offense and defense. He asked what my favorite position was."

Wiley has a lot of interest in Syracuse, and the visit only helped that.

"Yes my interest for Syracuse has greatened," Wiley said.

Next up for the three-star linebacker is a trip to Rutgers for their spring game on April 26th. Look for Wiley to camp with Syracuse this summer with the goal of earning an offer.
