Hawkins talks 'Cuse offer

Brad Hawkins is approaching double digits offers early on in his recruitment as one of the most talented players in the 2016 class. Syracuse is the most recent to extend an offer.

Four-star 2016 Camden (N.J.) High wide receiver Brad Hawkins is attracting a lot of early interest, and he picked up another offer during the spring evaluation period on Thursday when Syracuse pulled the trigger.

It was his ninth offer.

"I was excited," Hawkins said. "I was happy. They have been in touch a little before, but not much though. It seems fun up there. They have good coaches and fun coaches. They have a good school not just for sports but for education too."

The four-star talent is interested in Syracuse, though it is still very early in the process. He continues to learn about the coaches and develop a relationship with the coaching staff.

He says he is still getting to know his primary recruiter, tight-ends coach Bobby Acosta, but has heard that he is a very good coach.

"I've seen them play on TV and they have very good players at every position," Hawkins said. "I think I would fit into their offense well because they throw the ball a lot and that's what I love."

Next up for each side is getting the 6-foot-2 receiver onto the Syracuse campus in order to check things out in person. Hawkins believes he will be able to do that over the summer, though nothing has been scheduled yet.

Hawkins also holds offers from Florida, Michigan State, Pittsburgh, Rutgers, South Carolina, Temple Virginia and West Virginia. He currently has no favorites.
