SU 'the perfect place' for Giudice

Anthony Giudice unofficially visited Syracuse on Tuesday and before he would leave the Central New York campus, he became the 10th class of 2015 commitment for Scott Shafer's staff. The defensive lineman breaks his pledge down inside.

After a morning meeting with defensive coordinator Chuck Bullough this morning, 2015 recruit Anthony Giudice spent the day walking around the Syracuse campus. As he did, he couldn't help but notice an overwhelming sense of comfort.

So when he ended the day with another meeting with a few coaches, he felt like he had found his home.

"I really loved it there," Giudice said in a phone interview. "It just felt right and . . . was the perfect place for me, academically and for football."

The 6-foot-3 defensive lineman out of Avon, Conn. became the Orange's 10th commitment to the 2015 class.

Giudice said that even though he would be visiting Syracuse for a football camp this month, he knew that he wouldn't be able to fit the sightseeing in his schedule. So he decided to come up Tuesday.

The tackle said that he has enjoyed building a relationship with Bullough, who recruited him.

"He's a really intense guy, and I loved it," Giudice said.

Giudice said that he didn't plan on making the commitment today. It just happened. He also said it was nice that Syracuse recruited him as a defensive tackle, the position he wants to play in college.

But before he made the decision to commit, he had to make a quick phone call.

"I wanted to give my mom a call before I committed," Giudice said. "I walked outside and discussed it with my mom and dad, and the rest of my family.

"So after that, I went in and talked to coach Bullough and told him I was committing. They were all really fired up."

Giudice said that his family was excited that he made the decision. Even though it is early in the process, he feels that he made the right decision.

"I remembered that it is not just about football," Giudice said. "[Syracuse] is a good school and a great fit for me."
