With only two days left until the opening game, Syracuse’s football team is ready to take on Villanova. Talented and experienced running back, Prince-Tyson Gulley is anxiously waiting to put on pads and play against guys who aren’t on his team.
“We are ready to go,” said Gulley.
The team is chomping at the bit to run plays against another team and compete in front of their home crowd. Knowing Villanova has a solid defense and a coach that has been there for 30-plus years, Gulley said the team just has to wear them out Friday.
“I have to lead with example and show what the coaches want and expect of us,” said Gulley.
Gulley has been on the team since freshman year, in 2010. The veteran running back does extra conditioning and work to stay on top and show what they new guys have to do.
Competition is always good for the team and helps them get better.
“This is the best I’ve ever seen on the team with competition on offense,” said Gulley. “This year is a really good team and we have a lot of weapons.”
Throughout the preseason, coaches and players routinely described the offense by saying “we like to run the ball."
Gulley reiterated that fact. "we are going to do what we love Friday," he said. "Run the ball.”
The team takes on Villanova Friday night at 7:30pm inside the Carrier Dome.
